The world’s most powerful offshore wind turbine has already started generating power, and it has done so in a big way: Haliade-X set a new world record last December by being the first wind turbine to generate 262 MWh of clean energy in 24 hours , enough to power 30,000 homes.
GE Renewable Energy’s 12 MW Haliade-X prototype was recently installed at the Maasvlakte-Rotterdam port in the Netherlands.
The 135-metre-high self-supporting measurement tower that will allow the wind turbine to be homologated was supplied and installed by VOERAL last September, after a long homologation process to meet all the requirements of such an emblematic project.
